Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton are going to do a bit of battle, it’s true. And while we’re all probably hoping for either one or the other particularly, we all know the media would like to get us to blast the one we don’t like. Truth be known, I like both. I’ll put my money down on one in the primaries, but if that one doesn’t win, the other gets my vote, because both are fantastic.
The way we need to approach 2016 elections is to roll our eyes and make frequent references to how the media won’t get us to fight dirty amongst our own party, or to fling poo at the other. Hillary and Sanders will be very civil, and both are doing great jobs at their campaigning. Perhaps we need a hashtag that acknowledges this peace. Something like #CivilPrimaries or #ILikeBothOfDem or even #SandersOrClintonFTW (or if you want, #ClintonOrSandersFTW since order doesn’t matter).
We’re going to have to not just be civil and barely heard while the uncivil drown us out. We’re going to have to have our civility be the story. We have to drown them out with the civility. We can’t just be nice. We have to make the niceness outshine the meanness.
And this job won’t be easy at all. You will watch every single incident of in-fighting of Democrats end up blasted on the airwaves. It’s just what they’re going to do. To make sure there are incidents you can damned sure believe that haters of Democrats will pretend to be Democrats just to throw the poo and make us look uncivil.
When it happens, be right there to demand attention at how we stand united for either candidate, and use the hashtag, whichever we decide on. Use the fuck out of it and drown out the media. This is how we have to do things. This is the only way I can see that we’ll destroy the hate they’re going to make us look like we have.
You know, because liberals are the real haters, or something.
