Look, you can’t really use the PC card every time you don’t get your way on something stupid. Like the outright violation of someone else’s First Amendment rights just because you want it to happen. That’s right, we’re not violating your First Amendment rights. You’re violating theirs.
If you think it’s political correctness to abide by the First Amendment, you’re right. That was the meaning of that term. It was meant to make sure that speech was correct politically, or legally right to be used by a government official. The Confederate flag flying on government property is the actual moment it’s to be used.
The reason is the same reason why government has zero business pushing the Ten Commandments onto government property. And you know what it is. While you’re all screaming this violates your First Amendment rights, you’re forgetting, you can still fly that flag on private property all you fucking want. Your rights are not violated.
But the First Amendment isn’t just about being able to say any stupid shit you want to. It’s also about government not pushing any religion or… well, let me let the text speak for itself:
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
It’s that last phrase, known as the Petition Clause. You know whenever blacks have petitioned for the government to merely apologize for the slavery thing? Well, it’s their right to do so, since they have actual grievances. And it’s not just about slavery. You can go on and on about how nobody alive was alive then or suffered that. That falls on deaf ears if you keep screaming about your heritage, and then ignore theirs.
You don’t walk around on streets paved with symbols of white persecution, named for people who fought to destroy white sovereignty. These are symbols on government property that actually hold up these people as heroes. Every day they have to look up and see their government honoring the brutal oppressors of their ancestors is a day they know their government isn’t theirs. And they have a right to petition for that redress.
Just as I have a right to not let them push for a particular religion.
Just as you have a right not to let them push for a National Hitler Day if you’re of Jewish ancestry, or such.
Now, the predictable response will be, “But they have MLK day!” and you are correct. Can you claim to have grievances about MLK? Did he hurt you poor little white people? No? Then shut the fuck up.
This isn’t political correctness as you use the term. You think it means whiny people offended by something. These aren’t whiny people. These are legitimately oppressed people. They aren’t offended by something. They are absolutely right that those symbols and those people represent hate towards their ancestors, and that continuing to use them demonstrates a lack of care about what happened in their peoples past. You keep holding on to your ‘heritage’ but then denying them to make justice for theirs, and you will be revealing yourselves as the ultimate in whiny offense, and worst… entitlement mentality and hypocrisy.
It is correct on a political level that an equal citizen not have their government endorse hate towards them, nor the symbols of that hate. They have a right to petition for a redress of those grievances. If you want your First Amendment rights to be honored, keep in mind your rights do NOT call for you to push symbols of your hate and religion onto government land. Because that then violates someone else’s. You want your rights, you have to allow for others, and you have to stop insisting yours are so fucking special above others, or you prove that you still believe in white supremacy.
And that we’re absolutely fucking right about you crackers.
Oh, and by the way, you can keep showing your token black friends proudly holding up their Confederate flags all you want. It doesn’t change jack shit about the facts just because you found a few dumb enough to fall for your bullshit.
