…flag is then returned just in time for a pro-flag rally.
Brittany Ann Byuarium Newsome scaled the flag pole to remove it, saying it was inappropriate to have it flying as people shot by a white supremacist were being laid to rest.
James Tyson assisted her by spotting her on the ground.
Their plan was to keep the flag in a box, safe and sound, ready to be replaced after the funerals. So as far as rebellions go, they weren’t even being destructive, but respectful. You know, unlike what a bunch of white supremacists have been.
Activists knew the stunt was “high risk” and could lead to arrests and feel that re-erecting the flag is a “blatant slap in the face” and shows “disregard for human lives” as the flag is a symbol of white supremacy, Lewis said.
And many would call that courage. You know, somewhat rebellious. You know, going against the government when they break their own rules. Because that flag has absolutely no business on public property funded by black peoples’ tax dollars. But they’ll be condemned by people who are so dead set to keep a flag of treason and disobedience to the government out of a need to keep slavery alive.
Funny how people aren’t getting the irony there, isn’t it?
